Tai Chi

Marty Zombro, an experienced martial artist, teaches classes in Rehoboth Beach

Marty was first introduced to Tai Chi in 2004 while living among the beautiful mountains of
Montana. After seeing an advertisement for a beginner’s class in a local newspaper, he
decided to give it a tryand was instantly captivated by the deliberate, graceful postures
and mindful breathing of this gentle martial art. Over the next several years, he deepened
his practice by exploring various styles, including Yang and Sun, and developed a deep
appreciation for the richness of Qigong exercises.
In 2013, after moving back to the gorgeous beaches of Delaware, Marty felt inspired to
share his passion for this ancient Chinese art with others. He went on to study and become
a certified instructor. Today, Marty treasures living and teaching in the delightful Rehoboth
Beach area, where he strives each day to embody and share the peaceful mind-body
philosophy of Tai Chi.

Benefits of Tai Chi

Tai Chi is often called “moving meditation” – a relaxing way to connect the body and mind through slow, flowing movement and deep, mindful breathing. It’s known to improve balance and coordination, increase flexibility, reduce stress, boost energy, and support overall joint and heart health.

It is safe for people of all ages, as it does not put too much stress on the muscles and joints. Other possible benefits include improved sleep quality and an enhanced immune system.

This series focuses on the Yang Style 24 Form- a smooth, graceful sequence of 24 movements that build strength, focus, and inner calm. Each posture flows seamlessly into the next, helping you move with greater control, stability, and ease.

We’ll also practice Qigong (pronounced ”chee-gong”), a set of gentle breathing and stretching exercises that cultivate energy (”qi”) and enhance body awareness. Qigong helps improve circulation, posture, and recovery -making it an excellent complement to golf, tennis, pickleball, swimming, and other athletic activities.

Chronic pain and Tai Chi

Several studies suggest that a couple of months of Tai Chi practice can have an impact on the chronic pain experienced with conditions like osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia.

Moreover, a gentle practice like Tai Chi is beneficial for the spine. So many people with back pain are starting to try it as an adjunct to medical approaches to managing back pain.
